Last Day: So Long London
Last Day: So Long London
Last day in London -- very bittersweet! Our last full day in London was very open for us to decide what we wanted to do. It was a very relaxing but fun day; I finally feel like I have figured my way around the city on our final day... To start the day, I decided to do some work for my final project and went to three different coffee shops and did some research on their prices, flavor options, ambiance, etc. I landed on Caffe Nero, an Italian coffee chain in London. I got an iced honey oat latte -- it was £4.90 and very creamy with the shots poured on top, making it not too sweet. We then spent the afternoon shopping and getting souvenirs to bring home!
We took an afternoon trip on the tube to the iconic Tower Bridge where we walked around and got a ton of great pictures! It was packed there, but it was so cool to see the contrast of the new city skyline with the old historic palace buildings.
For our final dinner, we went to an authentic Indian place called Dishoom. Indian cuisine is a vital part of London cuisine due to Indian immigrants that came to the region back when India was a colony of Britain. We had the family dinner feast which brought the food out in different courses. To start, we had small plates including new keem pau: a mix of lamb meat, seasoning, and peas, okra fries, and shel: a salad mix of puffed rice, pomegranate, tomato, and lime. They all had such great flavor and were a little spicy but so delicious. The main dishes then came out: chichken tikki, sheekh kabab: lamb with spices, awadhi jackfruit and chicken biryani which is a rice dish cooked with either jackfruit or chicken. To finish it off, we all got dessert: I chose the pistachio kulfi which is like ice cream on a stick. It was very sweet and the perfect way to end the meal. I was very full at the end but it was such a great experience and so tasty. I am going to miss these long dinners with good food and conversations with friends where no one is in a rush. This has truly been an incredible experience I will never forget -- So Long London!
Ah, so your last day in London was brew-tifully bittersweet! I love how your coffee tour led you to Caffe Nero -- clearly, you've got the espresso for good taste. It seems no matter where you wander, you can't escape your Italian roots (thanks to yours truly, your full-blooded Italian mama!). I hope that iced honey oat latte gave you a little la dolce vita before heading home. Safe travels back with all those memories -- and souvenirs! Love you xoxo
